Abia State Police Command has rescued 18 suspected child -trafficking victims comprising eight infants and 10 children involving 10 suspects.
The police public relations officer, Maureen Chinaka in statement yesterday in Umuahia said the victims were rescued from two different locations.
“Members of the public in search of their missing or stolen infants/children are advised to visit the Gender Section of the SCID, Abia State Command, or contact the OC Gender via 08033173846,” it said.
It noted that the commissioner, Danladi Isa, reiterated the command’s commitment to combat crime and ensure the safety and security of lives and property in the state.
The statement advised residents to be security conscious, ensure proper supervision of their children and wards and promptly report any suspicious person or activity to the nearest police station.
The statement added that such reports should be made through the command’s emergency hotlines which are :08035415405, 08079210004, 08079210005, and 08079210006.
The suspects are Best Ndubuisi, female, 41: Charles Enyinnaya, male, 25; Eunice Ezekiel, female, 35; Nnena Kalu, female, 60; and Gideon Esther, female 25.
Others are Obiegbunam Von, female 65; Ezeoma Rejoice, female, 21; Ngozi Owoh, female, 20; Favour Ernest, female, 22; and Brittney Oyemuwa Zion, male, 22.
