We Will Change Abia North’s Road Narrative – DG

Director-general (DG) of the Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA), Obinna Odum, has said the outfit is committed to changing the narrative of roads in the Abia North zone.

Odum told LEADERSHIP after inspecting some ongoing road projects by the GODA in Isuikwuato, Umunneochi and Ohafia local government areas, that the state governor, Alex Otti, is poised to deliver quality road infrastructure across the zone to fulfil his campaign promises.
He explained that the inspection underscored the government’s emphasis on infrastructure development as a catalyst for economic growth and improved mobility.

According to him, among other reasons, it is also focused on reviewing the drainage alignments, culvert installations, and compliance with their approved designs.

The DG expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the work, noting that the project team had maintained adherence to the technical specifications.

“I’m impressed by the quality and consistency of work. Our team has shown commendable professionalism and alignment with the required standards.”

“We’ll ensure the roads deliver lasting value to people who depend on them,” said Odum, who led a team of engineers, surveyors, and project supervisors from the GODA.

He underscored the need for strict adherence to the project’s designs, urging the workers to maintain momentum and meet their set completion timelines.

Earlier, the mayor of Isuikwuato local government, Chinedu Ekeke, narrated the ordeal users faced on the ongoing Umunnekwu-Agbo-Amaibo-Acha Road in the area over the years.

‎Ekeke noted that upon assuming office, he temporarily graded the road ahead of the last Yuletide to facilitate free vehicular movement.

This project is very personal to me and the people of the area. We aim to ensure that it is rehabilitated and reconstructed to serve our people for many years.
