The Abuja Chapter 273 of ASIS International is set to mark its 15th anniversary with a symposium focusing on the protection of Nigeria’s national assets.

Themed “United in Resilience: Forging Public-Private Partnership to Protect Our National Assets,” the event is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the Yar’Adua Center, Abuja, beginning at 9:00 am.

Organizers said the symposium will provide a platform for stakeholders in government, security, and the private sector to share insights on strengthening resilience and collaboration in the protection of critical infrastructure.

Stakeholders expected at the event include the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), and other public and private sector leaders.

Discussions will focus on enhancing Nigeria’s security architecture through areas such as intelligence gathering and sharing, community engagement, capacity building, public-private collaboration, and tackling root causes of insecurity such as poverty and unemployment.

According to the Chapter Chairman ASIS International Abuja, Edward Orim, “some of the initiatives already underway include plans by the DSS to establish dedicated security units for schools and worship centers, as well as ongoing community policing efforts aimed at building trust between law enforcement and citizens.”

ASIS International is a global body for security professionals, with Chapter 273 in Abuja playing a key role in promoting best practices and knowledge-sharing within Nigeria’s security industry.

The 15th-anniversary symposium is expected to attract policymakers, industry leaders, and security experts who will deliberate on practical strategies to safeguard the nation’s critical assets and ensure a safer environment for all citizens.
