The Ambiance of Hope Exceptional Foundation (AHAF) has donated maternal care items and essential supplies to women and families in Karu, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to improve their maternal health, support expectant mothers and give newborns a fair start in life.

The humanitarian outreach, under the foundation’s Mother-Baby Maternity Empowerment Programme, reached three major health facilities: the Customs Clinic, ECWA Comprehensive Medical Centre, and the Primary Health Care Centre. Newborns and expectant mothers received gifts including baby wardrobes, detergents, bathing buckets, food items, menstrual kits, and sanitary supplies.

At the event, the national president of AHAF, Ambassador Alexandra Uduak Olusola-Olukomo, described the outreach as a gesture to mark the foundation’s five-year anniversary.

“It has been five years of empowerment, five years of impact, five years of touching lights, and five solid years of affecting humanity. The 13th of October marks another milestone for us, five years of serving mothers, children and humanity with hope.

“This is five years of hope, and as long as there are mothers and children in need, Ambiance of Hope Exceptional Foundation will continue to stand by them.

“When I remembered the pains of motherhood, a woman carrying pregnancy for nine months is already tired, I said it is time to empower pregnant women, to support hospital maternity wards and to give menstrual kits to girls. No mother or child should be left behind,” she said.

Olusola-Olukomo also urged other non-governmental organisations to demonstrate genuine compassion through practical action rather than titles.

She appealed to the government at all levels for urgent attention to Nigeria’s poor maternal healthcare facilities.

“For our government, please, the conditions of maternity wards are nothing to write home about; come to the aid of pregnant women, nursing mothers, and the girl child. They deserve better,” she added.
