President-general of the Orluzurumee, Socio-cultural Organisation,  Hon. Ugochukwu, has called for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

At the organisation’s executive session held in Owerri, Imo State,  the president-general emphasised that the prolonged detention of Kanu has continued to fuel tension in the South-East and hinder genuine peace-building efforts.

Hon Nzekwe appealed to the federal government to heed the growing calls from eminent Nigerians and Igbo leaders who have consistently advocated dialogue and a political solution.

“It is time to demonstrate statesmanship and national healing. The release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will go a long way to calm frayed nerves and open a new chapter of reconciliation in Nigeria,” the president general said.

Nzekwe stressed that there is an urgent need to show leadership and embrace reconciliation.

According to him,  Mazi Kanu’s release will mark a bold step towards rebuilding trust and promoting national unity.

The president general reaffirmed Orluzurumee’s commitment to peaceful coexistence, unity and development across  the Orlu zone, while urging all stakeholders to pursue justice, equity and fair play within the Nigerian federation.
