Rotary Club of Abuja, Kubwa Gateway has executed a series of projects under its four key areas of focus: basic education and literacy, water, sanitation and hygiene, disease prevention and treatment, as well as economic and community development.

This was disclosed by the club’s president, Dr Sunday Fasipe, who reaffirmed Rotary’s commitment to improving living standards through sustainable and people-centered interventions.

He said the recently implemented “three-in-one project” reflected Rotary’s multidimensional approach to service. The first initiative, tagged “Pad a Thousand Girls,” targeted 1,000 adolescent girls aged between 12 and 15 years, providing them with sanitary materials to last six months. The project aimed at promoting menstrual hygiene, confidence, and school attendance among female students.

The second intervention, a Spelling Bee Competition, brought together 10 junior secondary schools under the Bwari Area Council to promote literacy, spelling accuracy, and academic excellence. Winners of the competition, from positions one to three, were awarded scholarships to further encourage educational pursuit and intellectual growth among students.

The third project focused on water, sanitation , hygiene and disease prevention through the construction of a modern washroom for female teachers at Government Secondary School, Kubwa, opposite the General Hospital.

The facility, according to the club president, seeks to provide a safe and hygienic environment that supports the well-being of teachers and promotes workplace dignity.

The president added that the projects align with the club’s earlier commitment announced during his installation as the 11th President of Rotary Club of Abuja, Kubwa Gateway, where he unveiled a N65 million humanitarian plan targeting vulnerable groups within Kubwa and its environs.

He emphasized that the club remains steadfast in its mission to deliver impactful projects across key sectors, including healthcare, education, and hygiene.

“Rotary’s service is about creating sustainable change in our communities,” he stated. He added that the club will continue to implement people-oriented projects that address identified needs in the Federal Capital Territory.

He lauded the efforts of Rotarian Prince Kingsley Chukwudi Onuorah the project chairman for his dedication and commitment to seeing the success of the projects.
