The Plateau State chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has challenged the leadership of Berom Youths Moulders to provide evidence on their claims that armed Fulani from Fass and Werre/Jong areas launched two simultaneous attacks on Rachas village of Tatu Community in Heipang District and Rawuru village of Fan District, all in Barkin Ladi LGA.
MACBAN state chairman Ibrahim Babayo, in a statement issued to LEADERSHIP Friday in Jos yesterday, said, “We read with regret the statement issued on October 15, 2025, signed by the secretary-general of Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), Comrade. Bature Iliya Adazaram and the president of the group, Barr. Solomon Dalyop Mwantiri, where they alleged that armed Fulani have attacked and killed 13 persons while over 250 cattle belonging to Berom were rustled during the attack.
“We condemn any form of criminality against humanity, irrespective of their origin. However, we are not surprised by the allegation by BYM, considering that such allegations against Fulani have become a normal routine,” he said.
Babayo said it was on record that their members are often accused of attacks without any substantiated proof. He said BYM has a habit of rushing to the press to accuse them even before investigation by security agencies.
“We are not in any way party to those responsible for the claimed attack. The world has seen the difficulties the Fulani communities are going through in the state. We are being killed daily. Our cattle are being rustled on a daily basis,” Babayo said.
According to him, their members cannot go out for grazing due to the incessant gunmen attacks adding that gunmen open fire at will whenever they go. He said all the security agencies were aware of these atrocities.
He said from June this year to date, they have lost more than 500 cattle, with some shot and others rustled adding that in June, between the 1st and 14th, over 160 cattle belonging to Haruna Ibrahim and Alhaji Sani Muhammad were rustled by Berom from Fan district.
“On September 2, a herder was killed and over seven cattle were killed by the same Berom of Fan district. On October 5, three herders were attacked along Mararaban Kantoma; a herder Yusuf Abubakar and his five cattle were killed; and on the 7th, a herder Abubakar Wada and his 39 cattle were killed, with over 50 rustled around Izon community of Fan district of Barkin Ladi,” he said.
