In celebration of the 2025 World Food Day, the Perfect Chau Food Relief Foundation, an initiative of Perfect Chau Catering, distributed free meals and food items to over 1,000 vulnerable residents of Mowe, Ogun State.

The outreach, which featured the distribution of confectionery, raw food items, salt and seasoning cubes, aimed to support low-income households in line with this year’s World Food Day’s theme, “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future.”

Founder of the foundation and CEO of Perfect Chau Catering, Salaudeen Taiwo-Moyosore, said the initiative was borne out of the need to extend help to the vulnerable and quality meals to people who ordinarily cannot afford them.

“As a food business, we realised the need to reach out to those who may never get a chance to experience our meals, the same meals served at high-profile events. This is our way of giving back and showing love,” he said.

He explained that the foundation, though new, intends to run consistent outreach programmes either monthly or quarterly.

Speaking on the choice of Mowe as the location of the outreach, Taiwo-Moyosore noted that charity must begin at home.

“Our office is near here. To affect the world, we must first impact our base. The people here deserve to feel our presence and see what we stand for,” he added.

Harping on the significance of the day, Taiwo-Moyosore called for collective action in addressing hunger, stressing that the government needs support to tackle socioeconomic issues.

“The federal and state governments cannot do it alone. Private individuals, businesses, NGOs, we must all join hands and lift the vulnerable in society. A simple meal can go a long way. That’s the spirit behind World Food Day,” he said.
