Despite the recent defections of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and his supporters to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the acting chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Barrister Steve Orurua, has declared that the party was still very much alive in the state.
He gave the assurance on Tuesday while briefing journalists in his office in Enugu.
Orurua’s emergence as acting State chairman of the PDP followed the resignation of the erstwhile chairman of the party.
But, despite the mass movement of the PDP members to the APC, Orurua said that at the moment, they were willing to rebuild the party in the face of the defections.
He, therefore, urged the teeming supporters of the PDP and party faithful to be more united and motivated.
The former vice chairman of the PDP in the state said that as an opposition party, there was the need to create a sense of reawakening.
He further advised that there was a need for a renaissance and assured that as the chairman of the party, he will provide a level playing ground.
“The intent of this gathering is to reassure the people of Enugu State that the PDP is still very much alive,” Orurua stated.
