The Magistrate Court sitting in Kuje, Abuja, has remanded Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the brother of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, who has been held in custody for about five years by the federal government.

Also, Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, was also remanded in prison custody by the court.

They were both arrested during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest on Monday, October, 20.

They were arraigned alongside 11 others before the court on Tuesday.

The suspects were arraigned over allegations of breach of public peace by the police.

The #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest grounded activities in the FCT on Monday as workers and motorists could not find their way to their destinations.

The police clamped down on the protesters, saying there was a court order barring them from moving to certain areas in the city.

Last week, the Federal High Court in Abuja was said to have stopped Mr Omoyele Sowore and others from protesting in some areas in Abuja, including the Aso Rock Villa on Monday for the release of detained Nnamdi Kanu.

It was gathered that the court barred the protesters from any where close to the villa, National Assembly, Force Headquarters, Court of Appeal, Eagle Square and Shehu Shagari Way, pending the hearing of the motion on notice.

Justice Mohammed Umar, on Friday, granted the ex-parte motion moved by the police lawyer, Wisdom Madaki, on behalf of the federal government.
