The National Universities Commission (NUC) and Madonna University, Nigeria, have reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting quality and sustainable higher education in the country.

This followed a courtesy visit by a delegation from Madonna University, Elele, Rivers State, to the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Professor Abdulahi Yusufu Ribadu, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

The delegation, led by Sir Chris Chioma, Chairman of the Governing Council of Madonna University, included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Martin Anagboso, the Administrator of Okija Campus, Rev. Fr. Cyriacus Emedolu; and the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chima Achu.

In a press statement by Chima Achu Public Relations Officer of the Institution, Professor Ribadu expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the Institution for its enduring reputation as one of Nigeria’s foremost private universities.

He praised the institution’s strong moral and academic foundation, crediting its founder, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Emmanuel M. P. Edeh, for laying the groundwork for integrity, discipline, and excellence.

On his part, Sir Chris Chioma congratulated Professor Ribadu on his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as both well-deserved and timely.

He conveyed the goodwill of the Madonna University community and wished the Executive Secretary a successful tenure in office.

Also speaking, Professor Anagboso thanked the NUC for selecting Madonna University among institutions benefiting from the TETFund Scholarship for Academic Staff (TSAS) intervention programme.

He noted that the gesture reflected the Commission’s confidence in the university’s academic quality and commitment to research and staff development.
