Three persons were feared dead following a face-off between motorcyclists and a task force over tickets in New Nyanya, Karu local government area of Nasarawa State.

Our correspondent gathered that the crisis, which started around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, resulted from a disagreement between some motorcyclists and task force members over tickets.
It was learnt that in the ensuing disagreement, a member of the vigilantes corps attached with the taskforce shot one of the motorcyclists, Ibrahim Tella, with a dane gun.

The victim, the source said, was immediately rushed to the Specialist Hospital in Mararaba, where he was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.

According to the source, the development resulted in a free-for-all clash between the motorcyclists and the task force.

By the time the dust settled, two members of the task force were said to have lost their lives.
However, the state police command said one person died in the crisis.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, told LEADERSHIP on the phone that Ibrahim Tella, a member of the vigilante corps, was a casualty in the mayhem.
He said the victim was confirmed dead on arrival at the Specialist Hospital.

SP Nansel said personnel of the state police command and other sister security agencies were able to bring the situation under control, adding that normalcy has since returned to the area.
Our correspondent learnt that the development resulted in pandemonium with residents and passersby scampering for safety.
