Kaduna State government has partnered with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to accelerate energy access, deepen investment opportunities, and drive sustainable industrial growth through renewable energy solutions.

The collaboration was formalised during the Renewable Energy Roundtable, presided over by Governor Uba Sani, and jointly organised by the REA and the Kaduna State Government through Kaduna Power Company (KAPSCO).

The event, themed “From Policy to Impact: Sustaining the New Kaduna State Electricity Market for Access, Investment & Industrial Growth,” convened a distinguished assembly of thought leaders, development partners, and private sector stakeholders to deliberate on advancing Nigeria’s subnational energy transition agenda.

At the roundtable, Governor Sani reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to creating a transparent and investor-friendly electricity market anchored on policy clarity, innovation, and sustainability.

A key event highlight was signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Kaduna State Government and the REA.

The agreement seeks to establish tailored electrification strategies and implement sustainable decentralised solar power solutions across unserved and underserved communities in the state.

Governor Sani emphasised that Kaduna is strategically positioned to serve as a national model for renewable energy development, leveraging its abundant solar, biomass, and hydro resources to power industries and uplift communities.

In his remarks, the managing director of the Rural Electrification Agency,  Abba Abubakar Aliyu, commended Governor Uba Sani for his forward-thinking policies and commitment to sustainable energy transition.

Aliyu said the partnership aims to strengthen Kaduna State’s capacity to design and implement tailored electrification strategies to extend power access to rural, underserved, and unserved communities.
