The commissioner for Works, Engr Abdulquawiy Olododo, said it marked a significant stride in the administration’s ongoing urban renewal agenda.

Olododo, who spoke during the third-quarter inter-ministerial press briefing in Ilorin, the state capital, said the road projects, which were scattered across both urban and rural areas and covered a total of 76.5 kilometres, were completed in just six months.

“These include road construction, rehabilitation, and interlocking, to improve connectivity, reduce travel time, enhance road safety, and reshape communities across the state.

“These achievements reflect our commitment to modernising infrastructure in line with the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s vision for a more connected and economically vibrant Kwara,” he explained.

Olododo added that another 48 kilometres of roads were under construction, and nearly 52 kilometres more roads were recently approved.

The commissioner announced that the Kwara State Road Maintenance Agency (KWARMA) has intensified palliative works to keep existing roads motorable and ensure safety and accessibility for all road users.

Similarly, Olododo said the State Fire Service has received new tools, improved communication systems, and an advanced training programme to enhance emergency response and safeguard lives and property, saving billions of naira’s worth of assets during the period under review.

“With over 384 kilometres of road projects completed or ongoing since the inception of this administration, Kwara is steadily transforming into a more connected, business-friendly, and resilient state,” he said.
