The Nigeria Police, Yobe state command has presented N42.1 million to 35 families of police officers who lost their lives in active service.
The police spokesperson in the state, Superintendent Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Damaturu.
According to the statement, the payment is part of the Family Welfare Scheme and Group Life Insurance initiative introduced by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun to enhance the welfare of both serving officers and families of fallen heroes of the force.
In his remarks during the presentation, Commissioner of Police for Yobe state, Emmanuel Ado expressed appreciation to the IGP for his continuous commitment to the welfare of officers and men of the Force.
Ado described the gesture as a demonstration of compassion and leadership that will not only provide relief to the bereaved families but also serve as a moral booster to serving personnel.
The Commissioner of Police prayed for the eternal repose of the soula of the departed officers and urged their families to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
He further advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds, particularly in supporting their children’s education and general well-being, while cautioning them against falling victim to deceitful individuals who may seek to exploit them.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, describing the gesture as a demonstration of genuine care and benevolence.
They also prayed for continued success and divine protection for the leadership of the Nigeria Police.
