Bayelsa APC Growing Stronger, Aredeh Replies Nabena

The former vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Hon. Samuel Aredeh, has dismissed claims by former Deputy National Publicity Secretary Yekini Nabena of an impending implosion in the ruling party’s state chapter, describing it as laughable and baseless.

Aredeh, reacting to Nabena’s recent interview published in a national newspaper, said the APC in Bayelsa State was expanding and becoming stronger under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, and not facing any internal crisis as alleged.

According to him, Nabena’s comments were the rantings of a frustrated politician seeking attention.

“Implode? That’s laughable. The only thing that has imploded is Yekini Nabena’s political career. He’s a forgotten figure trying to crawl back into relevance by attacking those who are actually building the APC,” Aredeh said.

He accused Nabena of acting as a political mouthpiece for two notable leaders of the party, claiming Nabena was being used to spread misinformation.

“Let’s not mince words. Nabena is a disgraced political errand boy, not a stakeholder. For years, he allowed himself to be used like a disposable microphone, feeding from their crumbs and echoing their propaganda,” Aredeh stated.

He maintained that the recent wave of defections into the APC across the country was proof of public confidence in President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Governors and political leaders are not defecting out of fear or desperation; they are joining because they see results. The economy is stabilizing, governance is becoming more inclusive, and the APC is growing, not breaking,” he added.

The former APC vice chairman also took a swipe at Nabena’s political relevance, saying he lacked the moral standing to speak about party affairs in Bayelsa.

“He couldn’t even deliver his polling unit when he was a national officer. He has no structure, no followership, and no base. The only instability Nabena knows is the one in his own camp of political irrelevance,” Aredeh said.

He further alleged that Nabena’s outburst was part of a coordinated attack orchestrated by those afraid of the growing influence of Governor Douye Diri’s possible defection to the APC and urged party members across Bayelsa and the nation to disregard his remarks.

“They are afraid that if Governor Diri eventually joins the APC, it will change the political balance in Bayelsa. That’s the real fear behind Nabena’s statement.

“The APC is too big to be distracted by political leftovers. We are focused on governance, delivery, and national progress. People like Nabena, who thrived on gossip, can’t stand that there’s new discipline and structure in the party,” he said.

Aredeh concluded by calling for unity and focus ahead of future elections, assuring supporters that the party remained strong and united under Tinubu’s leadership.
