The executive chairman of the Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal, has commended the efforts of the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) of Basic School Tudun Wada, Sokoto, and called on other SBMCs across the state to emulate their dedication and contributions toward developing education at all levels.

He gave the commendation when members of the SBMC of Basic School Tudun Wada paid him a courtesy visit to appreciate the various projects and interventions carried out by SUBEB under his leadership.

The delegation, which included the school principal and the Chairman of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), was led by the Chairman of the SBMC, Dr Ahmad Rufai.

Dr Rufai said they visited to express appreciation and gratitude for Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal’s fulfilment of all promises to the school.

These include constructing a one-storey building comprising six classrooms, providing security, furniture, teaching and learning materials, and upgrading the school from a primary to a junior secondary school.

He noted that these developments have significantly improved teaching and learning conditions.

He further remarked that Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal has demonstrated a genuine commitment to transforming basic education in the state, particularly through his efforts to ensure that primary school teachers are among the first beneficiaries of the new ₦70,000 minimum wage structure for teachers.

Dr Rufai also appealed to the Board to assist the school in repairing its borehole, renovating some classrooms, and fixing damaged roofs affected by rainfall.

In his response, the Executive Chairman, Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal, assured the delegation that the Board would convert the borehole to a solar-powered system and make necessary repairs.

Alhaji Umar Nagwari expressed delight with the Committee’s commitment to supporting their children’s education and encouraged them to continue in that spirit, which aligns with Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto’s vision of improving education across the state.

He added that he remains open to listening to individuals or groups willing to contribute to advancing education in the state.
