Taraba Now Peaceful, Safe For Businesses, Investment – Governor Kefas

The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, has reiterated his commitment to creating a conducive environment for investors interested in doing business in the state, especially in agriculture and industrial sectors.

The governor made this known when he received a delegation from the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC), led by Mr Kamal Bakrin, Executive Secretary, at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.
Governor Kefas emphasized that, Taraba State is ready and open for investment, and assured potential investors of the government’s full support to ensure business success.

He said, as nature’s gift to the nation, the state is blessed with abundant natural resources and vast arable land suitable for agricultural ventures.

According to him, the state has addressed security challenges and is now peaceful and safe for businesses to thrive.

He called on investors to take advantage of the available opportunities, particularly in sugar production, a key focus of the state’s agricultural agenda.

Governor Kefas identified Kurmi, Lau, and Ibi Local Government Areas as ideal for large-scale sugar cultivation and processing projects, adding that the government has created a friendly business environment for willing investors.

Mr Kamal Bakrin, Executive Secretary of the National Sugar Development Council, NSDC, outlined the council’s mandate, which includes policy formulation, capacity building, and support for investors through access to finance and land.

He highlighted the global significance of the sugar industry, noting that it employs many across the world.

Also speaking, Mr Wilking Lam of the Lee Group expressed optimism about the prospects of sugar production in Taraba State.

He commended the NSDC for facilitating efforts toward establishing a multi-billion-naira, large-scale sugar project in the state.
