The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has said that, the temporary measures adopted in resolving the Donga Central Mosque dispute were taken in the best interest of peace and harmony among the people of the area.
Governor Kefas made this known at the TY Danjuma House, Wukari, when he received a delegation from the Coalition of Indigenes of Donga Resident in Abuja, who paid him a thank-you visit following his intervention in the recent mosque dispute.
He emphasized that, the peace and stability of Donga and the state remain his top priority and that his administration would not tolerate anything capable of threatening the existing peace in the area.
“The peace of Donga is very dear to me. I cannot condone anything that will undermine the unity and harmony of our people,” the Governor said.
Dr. Kefas solicited the cooperation and understanding of the Donga people in the collective effort to make Taraba a better place for all, adding that, the essence of government is to bring development closer to the people.
He thanked the Minister of State for Regional Development, Barr. Uba Maigari, and the Gara Donga, along with other members of the delegation, for their visit.
Earlier, the leader of the Delegation, Barr. Uba Maigari, the Minister of State for Regional Development, said the team were in Wukari to express appreciation to the Governor for his swift and decisive steps in addressing the crisis.
He noted that, Governor Kefas’ visit to Donga, despite his busy schedule, was a clear demonstration of true leadership and commitment to peace.
“For the Governor to personally visit Donga at such a critical time shows that he is a leader who truly cares for his people,” Maigari stated.
The Minister pledged to continue to work with the Governor to attract the much-needed development to Taraba State.
