The Fulani community of Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro local government areas of Bauchi State, under the aegis of Daddo Pulako, has pledged support for Gung Zaar of Zaar Chiefdom, Brig-Gen. Markus Yake I (rtd), to deepen inter-tribal engagement for the sustenance of peace and harmony for the socio-economic growth and development of the area.
The Leader of the Fulani group, Hon. Aminu Tukur, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Gung Zaar in his palace at Mhirim, Tafawa Balewa local government.
Tukur emphasised that Fulanis from both Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro had not opposed the creation of the Zaar Chiefdom in the interest of peace and cultural engagement.
He added that the creation of the Zaar Chiefdom should be used to entrench conversations around peace and harmony.
“It is an act of good neighbourliness. They are our neighbours, and they are not only our neighbours but fellow citizens of Bauchi State. So, invariably, we have to relate in many places, be it in the markets, in the offices of government and whatever kind of endeavours that are humanly acceptable,” he said.
Responding, Gung Zaar of Zaar Chiefdom, Brig-Gen. Markus Yake I (rtd), commended the Fulani group for the visit, calling on all ethnic groups in the area to live in peace and harmony with one another.
Gung Zaar assured the Fulani leaders of his total support and commitment to dialogues and peace-building initiatives.
“I grew up with Fulani neighbours in my native community. Each morning, we rushed to them for milk, which we used for breakfast. Also, my father had cattle and he entrusted them to a Fulani man to take care of them,” he said.
