Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, yesterday, flagged off the construction of a 1×7.5MVA, 33/11kV injection substation and a 2.5km 33kV line at the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park, Dadinkowa, in a major step toward energizing the multi-billion-naira industrial hub and boosting the state’s manufacturing capacity.
The project, to be executed by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), will connect the park directly to the national grid, ensuring stable and reliable electricity supply for industries expected to operate within the facility.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Yahaya described the event as the vital link that connects his administration’s grand vision to reality, emphasizing that the substation would unlock Gombe’s industrial potential, generate jobs, and support youth-driven entrepreneurship across value chains.
He said, “With this flag-off, we are igniting the engine of our industrial future. This Injection Substation is the final piece of the puzzle needed to operationalize the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park and transform it into a thriving center of production, processing, and innovation.”
The governor lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his push to revitalize Nigeria’s power sector, describing the project as a tangible dividend of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and a model of productive collaboration between federal and subnational governments.
Governor Yahaya recalled that the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park was conceived to drive agri-business-led industrialisation, leveraging the proximity of the Dadin Kowa Dam and 40MW Hydropower Plant to guarantee both water and energy resources for investors.
He noted that Gombe’s consistent ranking as Nigeria’s number one state in Ease of Doing Business (2021 and 2022) reflected his administration’s deliberate reforms to make the state a destination for investment.
He expressed appreciation to the management of NDPHC for partnering with the state, urging them to ensure quality delivery and timely completion of the project while pledging his administration’s continued collaboration to expand Gombe’s industrial and energy footprint.
Governor Yahaya also appealed to the host communities to protect the facility and take ownership of it, describing the infrastructure as a key to their prosperity and that of future generations.
Earlier, the chairman of Yamaltu Deba local government area, Hon Abubakar Difa, thanked the governor for what he called “unprecedented developmental strides,” adding that the council remains one of the most fortunate in terms of state infrastructure projects.
