The Progressive Ambassadors of Nigeria (PAN) has called on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in its ongoing efforts to strengthen national security, foster unity, and uphold the ideals of good governance.

National President of PAN, Amb. Jasper Emenike announced this during the second Annual National Conference and 10th Anniversary of the organisation, held yesterday in Abuja, with the theme:

“Exemplary Leadership For Sustainable Democracy, Good Governance and Development In Nigeria.”
Amb Emenike lauded President Tinubu for “boldly rejigging Nigeria’s security architecture,” describing the move as a crucial step toward ending the scourge of terrorism, banditry, and extremism across the country. He also congratulated the newly appointed Service Chiefs and pledged the group’s support for their mission to restore peace and order.

According to him, “We are confident that with the rejigging of our security forces, there will be full deployment of military capacity to stem the ugly tides of banditry, terrorism, and all forms of extremism,” he said.

On the recent United States designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” due to alleged human rights abuses, Ambassador Emenike described the development as disturbing but urged calm and diplomacy. He advised that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinate all official responses to avoid unnecessary escalation.

“This is a sensitive diplomatic matter. The Presidency’s communication handlers must avoid reactionary statements that could worsen the situation,” he cautioned.

Reflecting on PAN’s ten-year journey since its establishment in 2015, Emenike said the organisation had achieved significant milestones in promoting Nigeria’s image globally and supporting citizens abroad.

He recalled that in 2019, the group facilitated the reopening of over 400 Nigerian-owned shops in Ghana that had been shut down due to trade disputes — a development that earned PAN national recognition and a presidential reception from then-President Muhammadu Buhari.

He added that the organisation has established operational structures across the 36 states and the FCT, with over 25 chapters abroad, working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Orientation Agency, and other government institutions.

Amb. Emenike used the occasion to appeal for support from public and private sector partners, corporate organisations, and well-meaning Nigerians to sustain PAN’s ongoing national programs.
