Mary represented Nigeria at the Chess and Community Tournament in Atlanta, Georgia, United States where she emerged victorious, and also participated in the United Nations Games held in New York.

The Convener of the initiative, Vivian Ibrahim, led a delegation, including some staff members, to the Government House, Yola, where Mary presented her trophy to Governor Fintiri.

The team also displayed one of the 750 chess boards donated to the initiative by The Gift of Chess organisation in New York to promote chess development in Northern Nigeria.
