The Elites Society for Better Nigeria (ESBN), a United States-based advocacy group, has expressed deep appreciation to former U.S. President Donald J. Trump for responding to its long-standing appeal to help combat terrorism and corruption in Nigeria.

In a statement issued in Washington, D.C., the group described the White House’s official response, dated October 17, 2025, as a “turning point” in its years of pushing for international intervention in Nigeria’s worsening security and governance crises.

ESBN President, Mr Sudiq Musa, said the group had written several petitions during Trump’s first tenure, urging the U.S. to take firm action against terrorist networks and corrupt Nigerian officials.

According to him, the renewed engagement from Washington signalled a commitment to global justice and the rule of law.

Musa specifically urged U.S. authorities to investigate a former Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President (Upstream) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) over alleged money laundering and illicit asset accumulation.

He said the organisation was ready to work with international anti-corruption watchdogs to trace and recover stolen assets.

In his remarks, ESBN Secretary Mr Akpasi Akhiome clarified that the move was not politically motivated, but rather a patriotic duty aimed at restoring integrity to Nigeria’s public institutions.
