Akpomudje, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, (SAN), until now was the Otota (Traditional Prime Minister) of the kingdom.

His emergence followed the demise and burial rites of the 13th Ohworode, HRM Macaulay Ovbagbedia, Uhurhie-Osadjere II, from the Uhurhie Ruling House.

The late monarch, a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, was crowned on May 20, 2023, but passed on in July 2025 after a brief two-year reign, the shortest in the history of the Olomu Kingdom.

Following the completion of traditional rites, Akpomudje, as the next in command, ascends the throne in line with the customs of the Olomu people.

The incoming monarch, a respected lawyer and worldwide president of the Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association (GCUOBA), hails from Akperhe-Olomu, a community under the Eyavwien Ruling House.

In a statement by Olorogun John Ewenede, secretary of the Olomu Kingdom Traditional Council (OKTC), the people of the kingdom invited the general public to join them in celebrating the historic coronation.

He will be formally crowned on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Otorere (Agbon) Olomu in the Ughelli South local government area of the state.

A reception will be held immediately after the coronation at the royal palace, opposite the Magistrate Court, Akperhe-Olomu, in Olomu.

As preparations intensify, the atmosphere across Olomu Kingdom is charged with excitement. Drums, dances, and decorations have taken over the communities as indigenes and guests await the royal procession that will usher in a new era of leadership.
