The federal government has condemned the abduction in Kogi State of an unspecified number of civil servants who were travelling to Abuja for a promotion examination.

The condemnation was conveyed through the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), where the federal government also expressed solidarity with the abducted workers.

LEADERSHIP recalls that the officials were travelling to the nation’s capital on Tuesday to participate in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) promotion examination conducted by the Federal Civil Service Commission when they were kidnapped by gunmen around Kabba area.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, confirmed the incident and extended the service’s sympathy and solidarity to the abducted officers, their families, and colleagues across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Walson-Jack highlighted the widespread anxiety within the civil service over the incident, noting that the entire Public Service family was holding the victims and their loved ones in their thoughts and prayers.

She further called on all Nigerians to join in fervent prayers for their safe and speedy release.

Walson-Jack also expressed “confidence in the ability of the security agencies to ensure the swift and safe rescue” of the kidnapped workers.
