The national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; Deputy President of the Senate, Jibril Barau; Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. The lawmakers are the member representing Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency of Kano State, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, and representative of Kano Municipal federal constituency, Hon. Sagir Koki.

In their separate letters read by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, the lawmakers cited unresolved crisis and internal divisions within their former party as reasons for their defections to the APC.

The minority of the House, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, consistently a raised point of order throughout the reading of the letters and reception of the defectors, but he was not recognised by Speaker Abbas.
