The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN), has announced the institution’s plan to purchase 100 electric vehicles to facilitate the movement of students.
Prof. Egbewole also commended the students for remaining calm and responsible in the face of the frustrating transportation challenge.
The Vice Chancellor gave the assurance in a statement made available to journalists in Ilorin. “Please be assured that the buses we are expecting are to be delivered within days from now. Because of our empathy for you, our students, the university is making arrangements for at least 100 electric vehicles, which we hope will be delivered within days”.
He acknowledged the spirit of volunteering as displayed by some students and also commended the orderliness they have maintained in the face of the excruciating challenges.
“As I have had the opportunity to address the university community, the need to relocate the park with the measures taken so far, is for our safety and security, with other gains in the long run.
“It is not to punish our very dear and admirable students but to further protect you and your property”, he added.
Prof Egbewole added that the management team was not leaving any stone unturned in ensuring that the transportation challenge confronting the students is quickly resolved.
