Member representing Yagba East Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Obaro, has donated patrol vehicles and motorcycles to security agencies, as well as lock-up shops and provided a cash grant for market women at Itedo Makutu, Isanlu.
Obaro also renovated a classroom at Community Secondary School in Isanlu and constructed drainage systems in flood-prone areas.
Speaking at the commissioning of the projects at the Itedo-Makutu Central Garage in Isanlu, Obaro said the projects were part of his broader vision to promote people-centred governance through economic empowerment, improved education, and enhanced community security.
“Today’s event is not just a ceremony; it is a statement of commitment, responsibility, and people-centred governance,” he said. “It reflects our dedication to empowering our people economically while ensuring their safety, education, and well-being.”
The lawmaker noted that the newly constructed shops will provide traders and artisans with safe and conducive business spaces, while the cash support grants will assist market women in expanding their businesses and supporting their families.
“This grant is not a handout; it is a hand-up, an opportunity for women to grow their businesses, support their families, and strengthen our local economy,” Obaro said.
He added that the renovation of classrooms and drainage construction were direct responses to community needs, aimed at improving the quality of life and protecting residents from seasonal flooding.
Chairman of Yagba East local government, Hon. Joshua Monday, commended Obaro for his developmental strides and assured of the council’s continued partnership in advancing the welfare and safety of residents.
The Oluagba of Isanlu Makutu, Oba Tolorunjuwon Lawrence Ayo, commended the lawmaker for his efforts, describing the projects as timely and impactful.
“These projects touch the very lives of our people. From education and security to market empowerment, Hon. Obaro has shown true concern for the welfare of our communities,” the monarch said.
Similarly, the Area Commander of Yagba East Forest Guard, Adekunle Segun, appreciated Obaro for the patrol vehicles and motorcycles, noting that mobility had been a significant challenge for security operations.
“We have been suffering from mobility issues, but with this gesture, our morale is lifted. Our men will now work harder to secure Yagba East and keep criminals away from our forests,” he assured.
