43 Suspects Arrested In Borno Police Raid

The Borno State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) – Anti-Social Vices Team has arrested forty-three (43) suspects in a coordinated, two-day operation targeting the sale and distribution of banned substances and public nuisance across the Maiduguri metropolis.

This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, in Maiduguri.

The raids, conducted on November 11th and 12th, underscore the Command’s commitment to curbing criminal elements and social vices in the state.

According to the PPRO, the intelligence-led operation was carried out at the Baga Road area, Kasuwan Shanu, Ngomari, Galadimawa, Ajari-Cross, Ummarari, and Bulumkutu Yan Nono.

Daso said the arrested suspects were currently undergoing preliminary investigation before being charged in court.

Police also disclosed the recovery of a large cache of illicit drugs and dangerous weapons, including 183 wraps of unidentified dried leaves, commonly known as Scon/Colorado, 57 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 36 Ezol tablets and 22 pieces of D5 tablets, an illicit prescription drug.

The rest are one rubber of “Suck & Die”, a street name for a mixture of drugs. and two knives.

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, commended the RRS operatives for their proactive efforts and affirmed the Command’s determination to sustain these operations.

Abdulmajid appealed to the public to continue providing credible information to aid the police in ensuring a safer and more peaceful environment for all Borno residents.
