The Senator representing southern Borno senatorial district at the National Assembly, Sen Mohammed Ali Ndume has decried the killing of four farmers in Kwam village near Dille community of Askira- Uba local government area, the setting ablaze of a Church and other infrastructures in Pemi, including the recent invasion of Shikarkir communities of Chibok local government area by suspected Boko Haram terrorists, describing the situation as worrisome.

In a personally signed statement, the senator revealed that the inability of security agencies to man those communities in his constituency has led to the increase in attacks without confrontation.

Ndume who commended Governor Babagana Zulum for his quick response by directing officials of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and other stakeholders to immediately provide relief materials to the people in the affected communities, also appreciated the sacrifices of the Theatre Commander Joint Task Force North East ‘Operation Hadin Kai’, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar and his troops in the fight against terrorism in Borno and the region as a whole.

Senator Ndume who commiserated with the people in the affected communities, especially victims, however called on the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Waidi Shaibu to quickly deploy troops for safeguarding lives and property in those communities that are currently under perpetual renewed Boko Haram attacks.

The statement reads: “I am very much perturbed over the renewed attacks by Boko Haram terrorists in some parts of my constituency in the last one week.

“These attacks led to the killing of four farmers while harvesting their crops in Kwam village, near Dille community of Askira- Uba local government area.

“Just last week, a Church and other infrastructures in Pemi were set ablaze, and yesterday, there were reports of Boko Haram invasion in Shikarkir community of Chibok local government area in Borno state.

“The situation is worrisome. This is because the inability of security agencies to man such remoteful communities in my constituency, have led to the increase in attacks without confrontation.

“Let me commend the efforts of Governor Babagana Zulum for his quick response by directing officials of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and other stakeholders to immediately provide relief materials to the people in the affected communities.

“I also appreciate the sacrifices of the Theatre Commander Joint Task Force North East ‘Operation Hadin Kai’, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar and his troops in the fight against terrorism in Borno and the region as a whole.

Their unwavering commitment has led to relative peace in most parts of the state.

General Waidi Shaibu to quickly deploy troops for safeguarding lives and property in those communities under perpetual renewed Boko Haram attacks in the state”. Ndume stated.
