Two governors, Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and his Rivers State counterpart, Siminalayi Fubara, were conspicuously absent at the ongoing Elective National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Saturday.

It was was learnt that the Osun State delegates arrived Ibadan early Saturday morning, only to learn that Adeleke wouldn’t be attending.

The first sign that the governor, who is seeking a second term in office, would not attend surfaced during the commissioning of the Ibadan Central Bus Terminal a few days ago.

While the Rivers State governor Fubara might be staying away because of his allegiance to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who is leading a faction of the PDP opposed to the Iliya Damagum-led PDP, which is currently holding the party convention in Ibadan.
