The headquarters of the Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai in the North East yesterday said Troops of the 232 Battalion operating under Sector 4 of the theatre have recorded a breakthrough with the arrest of a key drug supplier to Boko Haram terrorists in Adamawa State.
Forty-five-year-old Zubairu Muhammed was arrested early Thursday at Uba town.
CHANNELS TV quoted a statement by the spokesman of the theatre, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, as saying, “The suspect is believed to be a major distributor of cannabis sativa and ‘ice’ substances to terrorists across Askira-Uba, Chibok, Michika, and Damboa areas of Adamawa and Borno states”.
Items recovered from him include 14 blocks of cannabis sativa valued at over ₦1m; 43.9 grams of “ice” valued at over N3m and two army camouflage T-shirts reportedly used while peddling the illicit drugs.
According to preliminary investigations, the recovered exhibits will be handed over to the NDLEA Yola Command for further action.
