Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC national chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, deputy speaker House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, Senator Simon Lalong, governors of Nasarawa and Benue were among top politicians of the ruling party that graced the reception for the decampees into the APC in Jos the Plateau State capital at the weekend.
Senator Akpabio who represented President Bola Tinubu at the Polo Field Jos venue of the reception said the massive influx of decampees into the APC showed the wide acceptance of the party among Nigerians as well as a vindication of the performance of the Renewed Hope Administration.
Akpabio said the president welcomed the new members from various parties who would be treated fairly and given an opportunity to contribute to the growth of the APC by delivering the president and electing the governor as well as State and National Assembly members.
Among the decampees received were former governorship candidate of the PDP, retired General John Sura, former governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP), Prof Patrick Dakum, former Senator representing Plateau North Barr Istifanus Gyang, and former Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s political adviser, Latep Dabang, their supporters and many others.
The national chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda in his remarks said the APC had enough fire power to win emphatically in the next elections.
According to him, the party will win Plateau governorship, national and state assembly elections emphatically because it had united more than ever before and also received decampees from other parties, including those who worked against the APC during the last elections.
Nentawe called for more cohesion under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose Renewed Hope Agenda is transforming Nigeria.
