Spiritual director of the famous Revival City, an international prayer retreat and conference centre in Enugu, Bishop Deborah Macfoy Akachukwu, has stated that the recent threat by United States President Donald Trump of possible military action in Nigeria would end impunity in the country and lead to implosion.

She said the time for political leaders to give an account for their actions is now.

Recalled that President Trump had recently threatened that if the Nigerian government doesn’t take action, the US may intervene, stating, “If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet”.

He also warned that the US would stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria if it continued to allow Christian killings.

But Nigeria’s government has denied the allegations, emphasising its commitment to tackling violent extremism and respecting faith, tolerance, and diversity.

The African Union Commission chairperson, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, also dismissed Trump’s claims, stating there’s no genocide in northern Nigeria.

It’s worth noting that the situation in Nigeria is complex, with various groups, including Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa ISWAP, involved in violence affecting both Christians and Muslims ⁵.

Interacting with newsmen over the weekend in Enugu, Bishop Akachukwu, stated that the era of impunity is over in Nigeria,  adding people will no longer go Scott free for their atrocities.

She added that “our leaders must be sensitive to the plights of Nigerians. They should stop ignoring citizens’ pains.

“I know the people are really suffering, and  I think the most important thing they need now is love for one another. The time has come for people to start doing the right thing”

She harped on the need for Nigerian leaders to start seeking God’s intervention and wisdom in the phase of the numerous challenges facing the nation, “because Wisdom is profitable”.

“I see God beginning to expose darkness in Nigeria; people will now start to know that every evil deed has a consequence. We must embrace God and do His will because every time we disobey Him, we increase our punishment.

“Our common enemy is corruption. God  has given  us natural and human resources in abundance,  yet Nigerians are suffering”

“So, what is happening today in Nigeria is according to God’s agenda. God is on his throne.

“The time has come for the leaders to start using the abundant natural resources to address Nigeria’s problems”, she further advised.
