We’ll Resist Attempt To Downplay, Distort Truth – Christian Youths

The leadership of Christian youths in Nigeria states that it will resist any attempt to downplay or distort the truth about the challenges facing Nigerians.

The National Secretary of the Youth Wing, Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Elder Bako Adashu Elijah, stated this at the North East Madison Convention of YOWICAN in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

Elijah then reiterated the commitment of YOWICAN members to promoting healthy coexistence in society, saying that, as youths, “we cannot afford to be indifferent: we must be active participants in shaping a nation that honours God and protects the helpless.”

“We affirm that silence in the face of injustice does not protect anyone. But as for us, we will continue to push for our people and for the Nigerian people, regardless of who stands with us or against us.”

As Christian youths, he said, “our mission extends beyond church walls,’ committed to ‘nation-building through godly influence, civic responsibility, and positive engagement. Speaking truth to power, defending justice, and showing Christ-like love are integral to building the Kingdom of Christ here on earth.

“Our faith teaches us that peace, justice, love, righteousness, and truth are the pillars of a healthy society.

As youths, we cannot afford indifference; we must be active participants in shaping a nation that honours God and protects the helpless,” he said.

While affirming the position of President Donald Trump of the United States on Christian genocide, as a “wake-up call”, the YOWICAN Secretary said, the ongoing challenges facing Nigeria. Our position as YOWICAN remains unchanged:

“There has been, and there continues to be, an ongoing genocide in parts of Nigeria. Any attempt to downplay or distort this truth is a product of media misrepresentation. While some individuals may hold contrary opinions—many of whom do not reside in communities facing these realities daily—we who live here cannot mortgage our faith, voice, or conscience for temporary gain or political convenience. We owe the truth to God, to ourselves, and to the generations coming after us.”

Elijah Further carpeted the reaction of Mr Daniel Bwala, from the North East Borno, to their earlier position, saying, “if the menace of Christian genocide does not affect his people or his family simply because he is currently in the comfort of government, then that is indeed unfortunate.

The YOWICAN National Secretary, who cited the case of Mordecai and Esther, said, “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
