The Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Forum (ND-ENYLF), has applauded the reappointment of Brigadier General Mohammed Marwa (rtd) as the director-general of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

ND-ENYLF, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by its spokesman, Dr. Legborsi Yamaabana, described Marwa’s reappointment as a reaffirmation of his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to the national fight against drug abuse.

The statement commended President Bola Tinubu for retaining a leader whose first tenure brought renewed vigour, strengthened institutional reforms, and enhanced community engagement within the agency.

The forum noted that the achievements of NDLEA under the former Lagos State military administrator have had a significant impact on young people across the Niger Delta, a region where drug abuse has long posed serious social and developmental challenges.

It stated that Marwa’s renewed mandate offers fresh hope for sustained intervention in the region, especially in vulnerable communities where preventive education and rehabilitation services are urgently needed.

ND-ENYLF expressed optimism that the NDLEA, under Marwa’s leadership, will deepen community-based prevention programmes, expand rehabilitation and reintegration initiatives, and collaborate more closely with youth groups, traditional institutions, and civil society organisations across the Niger Delta.

It urged the NDLEA to strengthen transparency and data-driven accountability in its operations.

The statement further emphasised the group’s readiness to partner with the NDLEA to develop youth-centred anti-drug campaigns, broaden public sensitisation efforts, and create alternative pathways for at-risk young people.
