I’m Still Bonafide PDP Member, Turnah Faults Expulsion

South-South Zonal Secretary and Bayelsa State caretaker chairman of the party, Hon. George Turnah, has dismissed  his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention held in  Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement issued by his media assistant, Kelvin Loveday Egbo, Turnah described the reports as false and without basis, urging members of the public, party supporters, and stakeholders to disregard the rumour.

He said those behind the claim were simply trying to cause confusion within the party.

“It is nothing more than a pitiful display of desperation from certain political opportunists and mischief-makers within the Party. Such claims hold no merit and can be dismissed as good radiance to bad rubbish,” Turnah stated.

He insisted that the party follows clear constitutional procedures before any disciplinary action can be taken, and none of such processes was initiated against him.

He noted that PDP’s leadership has not convened any legitimate national convention since 2022.

“It should be noted that there has not been any legitimate PDP National Convention held anywhere in Nigeria since the last one conducted in 2022, which was for the purpose of nominating the Party’s Presidential candidate for the 2023 elections,” he said.

He further stressed that the PDP constitution clearly outlines offences and disciplinary procedures, including the right to fair hearing for any member before action can be taken.

According to him, none of these steps was followed because no case exists in the first place.

“The PDP’s Constitution clearly and unambiguously outlines offences and the corresponding disciplinary procedures to be followed, ensuring the right to a fair hearing as a prerequisite for any disciplinary action,” he added.

Turnah maintained that he remains a committed and duly elected official of the party and described himself as a loyal and steadfast member who would not be distracted by political mischief.

He also reaffirmed his loyalty to the national leader of the party and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, adding that he would continue to work for the unity and progress of the PDP.
