‘Tinubu Must Act On Insecurity Or Resign’, Deji Adeyanju Reacts To Kwara Church Attack

Human rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has condemned the latest attack on worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Kwara State, describing it as another tragic reminder of the government’s failure to protect Nigerians.

At least two people were reportedly killed, several others injured, and an unspecified number abducted when gunmen invaded the church during a live programme on Tuesday.

In a statement on Tuesday, Adeyanju expressed deep concern over what he called the “daily killings of Nigerians,” warning that the country was descending into anarchy due to the government’s inaction.

“The daily killings of Nigerians is beyond depressing,” Adeyanju said. “Most recently, the gunmen attack at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Kwara State, killing at least two people, injuring many and abducting others. An attack on a place of worship is an indication of the terrifying reality that no one is safe in this country.”

The activist further criticised security agencies and the federal government for their perceived negligence, particularly pointing out that the attack occurred near a police station.

“The fact that this particular attack occurred very close to a police station shows government inaction and unwillingness to protect its citizens,” he lamented.

Adeyanju called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive steps to address the worsening insecurity or resign from office.

“President Tinubu must take decisive actions on insecurity or resign,” he declared.

The incident has added to a growing list of violent attacks across Nigeria, with communities, religious centres, and schools frequently targeted by armed groups despite repeated assurances from authorities that security remains a top priority.
