Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has applauded the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over what she described as deliberate policies promoting women’s inclusion.
Tinubu gave the commendation in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while speaking during the women’s summit of the State chapter of APC, with the theme ‘Effectiveness of Women in Politics’.
The President’s wife, who was represented by the APC national women leader, Dr Mary Idele, lauded President Tinubu and his wife for initiatives that have shown that APC was a party where women are not only welcomed but valued and elevated.
She stated that the progress of Nigerian women remained central to national development, adding that the women’s wing of the party stands solidly behind the President today, tomorrow and 2027.
In a goodwill message, APC caretaker chairman in Rivers State, Chief Tony Okocha, praised women for their resilience, recalling how female voters often remained at polling units until results were counted and announced.
Okocha described the state chapter of the party as gender-sensitive, noting that local government councils have female chairpersons and several women in legislative arms.
He urged party members to remain steadfast ahead of 2027, insisting there is “no vacancy in Aso Rock” and reiterating support for the President’s second-term bid.
Earlier in her welcome speech, APC women leader in the state, Hon. Amadi Darling, said the gathering was aimed at deepening women’s involvement in governance beyond election cycles.
She said, “This summit is about transformative leadership that touches every aspect of life. Women must continue to play active roles in shaping community development.”
