The Old Students Association of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Kwara branch has urged members to identify with their alma mata, and explore the benefits of being part of the alumni.
Chairman of the association, Mr. Abdulrahman Sholagberu, made the appeal yesterday at the group’s “Picnic and Meet to Connect” event held in Ilorin.
Sholagberu said there were enormous benefits of being an alumnus of one’s institution, as it could open doors of opportunities for members.
He said the purpose of the gathering was to connect both old and new graduates, as well as to help build connections and relationships.
“We have those that graduated in the 60s and some who just graduated in 2024; So, we have brought everyone together so that we can know and help ourselves.
”We have been meeting before now, but they have all been formal meetings; we decided to make this informal to allow for free flow of communication.
”We want to be able to help ourselves, so we urge us all to tap into it,” he said.
Former chairman of the association, Alhaji Abdullateef Adedeji, urged members of the association not to burn bridges, but strive to keep it strong, as their children and relatives could be beneficiaries.
