‎The family of the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has claimed that there is a plot to eliminate him after his sentencing on Thursday to life imprisonment by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

LEADERSHIP recalls that the trial judge, Justice James Omotosho, sent Kanu to life imprisonment after finding him guilty on all seven charges brought against him on terrorism.
However, ‎Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel Kanu, alleged that there was a plot to eliminate his brother in a chat following his brother’s movement from the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja to Sokoto Custodial Centre.
‎
‎”They have secretly relocated Nnamdi Kanu to Sokoto Custodial Centre with the intention to kill him by denying him access to his personal physicians,” Emmanuel Kanu alleged.
‎
‎He further revealed Kanu is on special medication, which a private doctor is managing following what he called his failed health.
‎
‎”Now they want to go back to the old order of administering drugs to him. This is a plan to finally kill him, and we are opposed to it.
‎
‎”Nigeria should not kill Nnamdi Kanu for seeking justice for his people. He committed no crime to warrant this torture,” Emmanuel said.
‎
‎He added that the family urged the international community to hold the leaders and the federal government responsible, should anything happen to the IPOB leader.
