John David, Chief Executive Officer of Data Addicts, has called on the Federal Government to put Nigerians at the centre of policy decisions as the country grapples with persistent economic strain and rising insecurity.

In a chat with newsmen, David said the hardship facing citizens is no longer an abstract discussion about economic indicators, but a daily struggle for survival for millions of families. He urged the government to respond with empathy, transparency and urgency.

“Economic hardship and insecurity are not just numbers on a chart — they are the lived realities of millions of Nigerians. Government must demonstrate greater empathy, transparency and responsiveness in addressing the people’s needs,” he said.

David pushed for people-focused economic reforms, including stronger social safety nets and targeted investments in job creation, healthcare, education and infrastructure.

According to him, policies should move beyond stabilising macroeconomic conditions to delivering real empowerment and opportunities for citizens.

He also emphasised the need for more inclusive governance, urging policymakers to strengthen feedback channels, listen to community concerns, and ensure that reforms reflect on-the-ground realities.

On security, the Data Addicts CEO urged increased adoption of modern technology and deeper collaboration with data-driven organisations to improve threat detection and crisis response.

“Swift and effective action — whether on economic shocks or security challenges — is what builds trust. Nigerians need to see a government that hears them, protects them, and acts in their best interest,” he said.

David added that a renewed commitment to transparency, inclusion and strategic investment would help restore public confidence and support long-term national stability.
