FG Anchors 2026 Cooperative Reform on Digitization

Akilaah Solutions and its parent company, MAJ Fintech Group, have emerged as the big winners at the 7th Nigerian National Cooperative Awards, sweeping all three categories in which they were nominated.

The development comes as the Federal Government places digitization at the centre of its 2026 Cooperative Reform Programme.

Speaking at the national symposium, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security and Coordinating Minister for Cooperative Reform, Sen. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, said digitization would form a core pillar of the administration’s cooperative transformation agenda.

Sen. Abdullahi outlined plans for the 2026 reform, including full-scale digitization, transparent financial reporting, accurate member and asset records, strengthened governance frameworks, and the use of technology to drive inclusion for women, youth, farmers and traders.

Akilaah Solutions is already deploying tools aligned with these priorities — including digital savings and loans, biometric member onboarding, e-voting and governance modules, real-time reporting across all cooperative levels, welfare and subsidy distribution systems, internal marketplaces for producers, and automated regulatory reporting.

These features position Akilaah as a leading platform to support the government’s plan to digitize more than 30,000 cooperatives and millions of members nationwide.

At the Lagos ceremony, the awards presented were: Most Innovative Company of the Year — MAJ Fintech Group; Best Cooperative Management Solution of the Year — Akilaah Solutions; and Most Outstanding Cooperative President of the Year — Mrs. Amenan Amandine Kouakou.

Speaking after receiving her award, Mrs. Kouakou said: “This recognition is for every cooperative, every woman, every youth, and every community striving for financial dignity. Akilaah is built by cooperators, for cooperators. We will continue to innovate for Nigeria and Africa.”

With government policy now pointing firmly toward a digital-first future, Akilaah appears set to help drive Nigeria’s cooperative sector into a more modern, transparent and inclusive era.
