The Nigeria Customs Service triumphed over the Ghana Air Force with a decisive 3-0 victory (25–20, 25–23, 25–14) to clinch the title at the 2025 Super Volleyball Championship in the women’s category.
As Nigeria’s sole representative, the Customs team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, achieving impressive victories against Ghana Navy, Kalibi, Ghana Immigration, and Elwak Wings before overpowering the Ghana Air Force in the final match held at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, Ghana.
Samuel Onikeku, Head of Sports at the Nigeria Customs Service, credited the team’s success to the significant investment and unwavering support of the Comptroller General of Customs, Dr. Adewale Adeniyi (MFR).
Onikeku stated, “The CGC has heavily invested in the team and created an environment that allows the players to thrive. We dedicate this victory to him and pledge to continue representing Nigeria with pride.”
The CGC’s support has also set the groundwork for the upcoming 2025 CGC Volleyball Premier League scheduled for next December, where the team aims to defend their title.
Nigeria collected five awards during the tournament, with Kelechi Genevieve winning MVP and Best Opposite, while Maryam Ibrahim was recognised as Best Attacker, Aisha Umar as Best Server, Bukky Oluwatosin as Best Middle Blocker, and Suleiman Ajeigbe as Best Coach.
