The senator representing Niger North Abubakar Sani Bello has donated N8 million to the families of 16 vigilantes killed in Mashegu attack.
Bello said the money was for the families of the vigilantes killed during the attack by bandits in Kaboji Community, Mashegu local government area.
Represented by his legislative aide, Comrade Mohammed Sani Yahya, the lawmaker said the attack was not just on the community, but Niger North, the state and Nigeria, reminding the people that “an attack on one is an attack on all.”
While handing over the cash to the District Head of Kaboji for onward delivery to the families of the deceased, Yahya said each family would receive n500,000 as immediate support.
Senator Bello described the slain vigilante members as true heroes of the communities as they displayed uncommon courage and selflessness in defending the people.
He said their bravery continues to inspire hope and strengthen the resolve of residents, reinforcing the belief that criminal elements would be defeated through collective effort and resilience.
Bello urged the communities to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and support ongoing government efforts at identifying and flushing out terrorists from their hideouts.
The chairman of Mashegu local government area, Hon. Umar Jibrin Igade, expressed gratitude to Senator Bello for his continuous support and unwavering commitment to the well-being of the people of Mashegu.
