Lagos State government has reaffirmed its commitment to building a skilled and effective workforce, as 35 senior Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs) undergo a two-day leadership and conflict management master class at the VIS headquarters, Ojodu-Berger, Lagos.
The capacity-building exercise was designed to boost morale, enhance productivity, and strengthen officers’ competencies in areas such as personal effectiveness, emotional intelligence, and professional conduct.
Speaking during the session, the special adviser to the governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, urged officers to understand themselves, identify personal weaknesses, and work towards self-improvement.
He emphasised the need for emotional control when dealing with motorists, noting that their role requires patience and professionalism at all times.
The special adviser emphasised that the training is aimed at equipping officers to better manage emerging situations while maintaining high professional standards.
He assured the officers that the state government will continue to prioritize their welfare to enable them perform optimally.
Also, the director of Vehicle Inspection Services, Engr. Akin-George Fashola noted that the engagement would help officers relate more effectively with the public through improved emotional intelligence and communication skills.
