Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug dealer, Mr Ogbu Simon, and recovered large quantities of Tramadol and Diazepam worth over N12.2 million.
The spokesperson of the command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, disclosed this in a press statement on Tuesday in Bauchi.
He said the arrest followed credible intelligence the police received on 26th November, 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when a concerned citizen alerted the police about suspicious sacks being offloaded at a shop belonging to the suspect in Ningi town.
Wakil said the suspect was believed to be bringing narcotics from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Ningi local government area and the neighbouring communities.
“Acting on the tip-off, operatives from the Ningi Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the divisional police officer, CSP Surajo Ibrahim Birnin Kudu, raided the shop. During the operation, the officers recovered four bags containing suspected Tramadol and Diazepam (D5) tablets,” Wakil said.
Wakil said the commissioner of police, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation.
He added that the suspect and the recovered exhibits would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
