Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for stronger national commitment to inclusion, accessibility and empowerment for persons with disabilities as the world marks the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

In a message released yesterday in Abuja, the first lady said the 2025 theme, “Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress,” highlights the need to build a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and contribute.

Mrs Tinubu described the International Day of Persons with Disabilities as a reminder of the collective duty to ensure that all Nigerians, regardless of ability, can participate meaningfully in national life.
“This day serves as a reminder of our collective duty to build a society where everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to thrive, participate, and contribute meaningfully to our shared progress,” she said.

The first lady noted that a truly inclusive Nigeria must support and empower persons with disabilities to be independent.
