Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has urged the new Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), to sustain and intensify military offensives against bandits terrorising the North-West region of the country.
Governor Radda made the call in a congratulatory message following General Musa’s appointment and swearing-in by President Bola Tinubu, describing his choice as both strategic and reassuring for Nigeria’s security outlook.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula, the Governor stated that Musa’s extensive military background, especially his service as Chief of Defence Staff, places him in a strong position to drive the reforms and operational improvements needed to tackle insecurity across the country.
“General Musa’s nomination and confirmation by the Senate come at a critical time when the nation needs experienced, strategic, and decisive leadership in the defence sector. His track record speaks volumes about his capacity to deliver results,” Radda said.
Radda expressed confidence that the new minister will inject fresh energy and innovative strategies into the Ministry of Defence, while strengthening coordination among security agencies.
The governor further called for heightened military pressure on bandits operating in the North-West and emphasised the need for improved welfare and motivation for troops in the frontlines.
He reaffirmed Katsina State Government’s commitment to supporting national security efforts, noting that the establishment of the Community Watch Corps and other state-level initiatives were designed to complement federal operations.
“We are ready partners in this fight. Katsina State has created an enabling environment for security agencies, and we look forward to working closely with the Ministry of Defence under General Musa’s leadership,” the governor added.
